Shama Lama Ding Dong Club

Open since 1949 The Dexter Lake Club is a well established cafĂ©, bar, and live music venue, a roundhouse if you will. Off Highway 58 in Dexter, Oregon the bright neon sign atop the roof calls to locals and those tourists traveling through  like Aztec Gold they are drawn not only to the excellent baby back ribs and rattlesnake bbq but some seek out the club for something that occurred here 41 years ago, something so timely yet timeless.  This roundhouse has no Patrick Swayze tout, no, this roundhouse is an Animal House.  The video below features some of the scene where the boys take their dates out and run across a bar where Otis Day and The Knights are playing the same Otis Day that plays at the Delta House also, included current snaps of the club  today.  Occasionally, I find myself in the area and the urge to belt out “Shama Lama Ding Dong is strong with this one.  So if you find yourself passing through Dexter, Oregon stop in take a snap at “the booth” enjoy the panoramic of Dexter Lake through picture windows while feasting on a dinner of baby back ribs or rattlesnake bbq

Cheers!
